ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL

 

Directly responsible to the Principal; assumes full responsibilities for the school in the absence of the principal.

 

Duties:

 

 

I.

Curriculum and Instruction

1.

Develop and implement curriculum and instruction training and staff development.

 

 

2.

Work with teacher to develop and/or demonstrate instructional methodologies to improve student achievement.

 

 

3.

Work with teachers to develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum.

 

 

4.

Assume leadership role with Focus on Learning on a year-to-year, ongoing process.

 

 

5.

Assume leadership role with technology curricular integration and provide oversight of technology support system.

 

 

6.

Access and analyze student achievement data utilizing a variety of tools..

 

 

7.

Work with district level leadership and teachers to develop “safety-net” classes which support students in achieving academic standards; implement these classes in school wide and/or Summer School programs.

 

 

8.

Work with counseling staff to monitor student academic growth and make changes in student academic program appropriately in order to maximize student performance.

 

 

9.

Assumes duties for 504 coordination.

 

 

10.

Assist principal in supervision of special education instructional program and processes.

 

 

II.

Supervision

 

 

1.

Assume the responsibility for student discipline problems in the school; supervise the general conduct and discipline of all students.

 

 

2.

Assist in the administration and supervision of extracurricular activities.

 

 

3.

Supervise student attendance, the readmission of students following absences and contacts with the home regarding attendance matters..

 

 

4.

Direct the general supervision of all student activities.

 

 

5.

Assist the principal in the selection of new personnel..

 

 

6.

Assist the principal in fiscal oversight and supervision of sound fiscal practices.

 

 

   7.  

Serve on various District committees, panels and task forces, including, bodies to review student discipline, attendance, curriculum and technology.

 

 

   8.

Supervise attendance office programs and procedures.

 

 

   9.

Supervise counseling office programs and procedures.

 

 

III.

Evaluation.

 

 

1.

Evaluate teachers and other personnel as assigned by Principal.

 

 

2.

Evaluate instructional programs based upon student achievement and other indicators.

 

 

IV.

Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Working Environment

 

 

Environment:

An Office/School Site Environment.

Physical Abilities:

Sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time.

Light to moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds).

Reaching, stooping, pulling, pushing, bending, walking, writing on

blackboard/whiteboard, and keyboarding. 

Speech, hearing and vision emphasized.

 

Qualifications:

Holds or qualifies to hold a California Administrative Services Credential; ability to maintain confidentiality in dealing with students, parents and faculty and with the appropriate records; ability to deal with and be sensitive to the needs of young people; ability to deal politely with members of the public; knowledge of rules, regulations, procedures and policies of public schools and school districts.
